Prepare the area to be reinforced according to the national regulations, DIN 18363 and/or the BFS notices. Remove all loose components from the individual cracks/joints, thoroughly prime the areas and in particular the flanks of the cracks and joints.
Insert a filling profile (round cord) into cracks over 3 mm in width in order to prevent any three-flank adherence. Subsequently, fill the cracks/joints with KOBAU Armierungsspachtel mixed with quartz sand in a ratio 1:3 by applying several layers until the filler paste is level with the surface. After drying, apply KOBAU Armierungsspachtel without any additive. To accomplish this, we recommend using a toothed trowel 4x4x4 in order to ensure an even layer thickness. Then insert the KOBAU Armierungsecke and press against the substrate by means of a smoothening trowel until the tooth marks have completely disappeared. Immediately thereafter apply the KOBAU Armierungsspachtel wet-in-wet and level using the smoothening trowel so that the KOBAU Armierungsecke floats in the filler paste.
After complete drying, the Armierungsecke should be levelled once again with the reinforcing filler paste (depending on the substrate) in order to avoid shadow flickering in the marginal area.
Depending on the type of make-up (techniques, coatings, etc.), we recommend uncoupling the area using Armiera® Anstrichvlies or microlith® Malervlies.
When using the KOBAU Armierungsspachtel with other KOBAU products for repairing individual cracks, we recommend to proceed analogously as is the case with the processing of the KOBAU Armierungsecke.
